Reid is a professional footballer. He is not an amateur it's his living and he seeks an opportunity to increase his earnings. I don't blame him at all.

So wanting MORE than £12MILL gross for a few years work isn't greedy. So, just what would be greedy then. £20MILL, £30MILL. He's a decent centre back, not Bobby Moore reincarnated.
The club made him a very fair offer, if he doesn't like it, then fuck him.

It all comes down to whether we could pay for somebody better for less than upping his wages.
Reids agent can do the mathematics on it and is holding out for something that closes the gap.
Fair enough, sensible business, West Ham just don't want to be push overs.
There will be bids for him in the summer anyway, he knows that and this could just be a short term fix for us to get a good price, Who knows, he could have a release fee built in to any new contract.
